Senior
News
Seniors make up a large segment of the patients that are
treated by the physicians and facilities participating
in Guadalupe Healthcare Network. GHN staff members feel
it is important
to provide information that will help seniors learn about
ongoing changes to the Medicare system, including the
heavily marketed
Medicare Advantage Plans. Our goal is to keep seniors
and their decision-makers informed. Check this site to
learn about informational
meetings and seminars that GHN offers. Seniors will also
find telephone and website resources where they can get
answers to individual questions they might have about their
benefits,
their rights or other topics of interest.
Please be
aware that many of the Medicare Advantage plans being sold by various insurance
companies and agents are not accepted at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center nor
by nearly all of our local physicians. We do accept traditional Medicare.
Concerns over timely payments, administrative burdens, and the ability to refer
patients to physicians of choice are some of the issues which cause Guadalupe
Regional and physicians to not accept Medicare Advantage plans. If you sign up
for one of these plans, you may not be able to access your local health care providers!
Seniors are strongly
encouraged to choose wisely and know their rights when selecting a Medicare Advantage
Plan or traditional Medicare.
Please be sure you
are dealing with a reputable agent as well and obtain their agent ID number and
their phone number.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call 303-4846.
